Thermoplastic Powder Coatings Types

Thermoplastic Powder Coatings Types

Thermoplastic powder coatings types mainly have the following types:

  • Polypropylene
  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
  • Polyamide (Nylon)
  • Polyethylene (PE)

Advantages are good chemical resistance, toughness and flexibility, and can be applied to thick coatings. The disadvantages are poor gloss, poor leveling and poor adhesion.

The specific introduction of thermoplastic powder coating types:

Polypropylene powder coating

Polypropylene powder coating is a thermoplastic white powder with a particle diameter of 50~60 mesh. It can be used in anti-corrosion, painting and other fields.

It is a thermoplastic coating made of polypropylene as the matrix resin and modified by physical and chemical modification. It has the following performance characteristics: excellent weather resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and high adhesion to metal (such as steel) substrates. Method of use: fluidized bed, electrostatic spray and flame spray. The coating surface is flat, the thickness is uniform and can be adjusted arbitrarily.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Powder Coating

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) powder coating has a wide range of color configurations, good weather resistance, excellent corrosion resistance of the coating film, resistance to alcohol, gasoline, and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, high mechanical strength, and outstanding flexibility. The highest insulation resistance is (4.0-4.4)×10 4 V/mm , the coating film is smooth, bright and beautiful, and the price is low.

The polyvinyl chloride powder coating can be dipped in a fluidized bed, and the particle size of the powder coating is required to be 100μm-200μm; or electrostatic powder coating, the particle size of the powder coating is required to be 50μm-100μm.

Polyamide (Nylon) Powder Coating

Polyamide resin, commonly known as nylon, is a thermoplastic resin with a wide range of uses. Polyamide resin has good comprehensive properties, high hardness, especially outstanding wear resistance. Its coating film has small static and dynamic friction coefficients, has lubricating ability, and has low running noise during operation. It is an ideal wear-resistant non-woven fabric. Lubricating coating with good flexibility and excellent adhesion, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, used for coating textile machinery bearings, gears, valves, chemical containers, steam containers, etc.

Polyethylene Powder Coating

Polyethylene powder coating is an anti-corrosion powder coating produced by high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) as the base material, adding a variety of functional additives and color preparation. The coating layer has excellent chemical resistance, aging resistance, impact resistance and bending resistance. , acid resistance, salt spray corrosion resistance, and has good surface decoration performance.
